Visiting the DatacenterDynamics in London

Also this year, our colleague Andreas Schüller attended the DatacenterDynamics in London, collecting a lot of information and insights from an international perspective, which we will now incorporate into our client projects.

While last year’s focus was on the uncertainty surrounding the development of the demand arising from AI systems (“…the requirements will certainly change, but how quickly and to what extent?”), this year’s focus was on the next stage.

❓ What opportunities and risks arise from short-term planning?

❓ What role can existing data centers play?

❓ What balance between standardization and flexibility offers the best prospects for success?

One opinion shared by several speakers was that changes and adjustments must be carefully considered and not everything that is possible should be done, nor does every development necessarily require an immediate change. “It’s a massive change, but it’s just another change.”

But also the other side was addressed in many presentations.

❓What benefits can data center operators in particular and companies in general, derive from AI systems?

❓What is already possible today? What is actually being implemented by various operators?

❓Based on the current state of AI systems and foreseeable developments, the question was also addressed which tasks and responsibilities can be delegated to AI systems, what one would want to delegate and what, from today’s perspective, should absolutely not be delegated.

By combining three events in one location (Connect/ Compute/ Investment), a multitude of other topics were addressed and discussed, such as the relationship—or, as some have described it, the competition—between investments in AI projects and those in data center projects, the increasing AI awareness and an examination of the overall impact of such projects with regard to the benefits and effects on individual users or society as a whole.

Should you also be considering how the use of AI systems might affect your data center, we look forward to hearing from you and would be happy to advise you.
